One Day Trip to Korlai - Revdanda & Alibaug on 9th Nov 2014

Nisarga Bhraman has planned a one day trip to visit places around Alibaug. The trip would be ideal for family and lazy bugs.

The trip includes visit to Korlai Fort, Revdanda Fort, Birla Temple, Alibaug, Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre Memorial & Angre Wada etc.

We invite you all to join us on a one day trip to Korlai - Alibaug on Sunday, 9th November 2014.

About the place:

Korlai Fort -

Korlai fort can be seen from the bridge at Salav, located at three Kms. from Revdanda, on the Revdanda - Kashid road. The fort is an Old Portuguese outpost guarding the entrance to the river. A small road leads up to the top of the fort. There is a Lighthouse on the fort and a small climb from behind the lighthouse will take you to the fort. The fort is in ruins, but the view from the lighthouse is beautiful and the rocky beach at Korlai is also good.

Revdanda Fort -

The fort is situated 17 kms south of Alibaug at a very beautiful place where river Kundalika meets Arabian sea. The fort was built by portuguese captain - Soj in year 1558. A seven story tower, fortification wall, Portuguese symbols, church and few canons are remains in the fort. View of Korlai fort is very beautiful from the isolated Revdanda beach.

Birla Mandir at Salav -

About 20 Kms from Alibaug on the Alibaug – Roha route near the Salav village is the beautiful 'Birla Mandir'. Ganesha is the main diety of the temple with ‘Riddhi and Siddhi’ on its either sides. There are small temples of ‘Radha-Krishna’, ‘Shiv-Parvati’ and ‘Suryadeva’ also in the Birla mandir.

Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre memorial -

Just five-minute walk from Alibag ST stand is this memorial. The structure has 8 faces and the pillars are exquisitely sculpted. Though in dilapidated state today, it stands in sacred memory of the great Maratha Admiral Konhoji Angre.
Nearby situated is Angrewada, a mansion in renovated form. The seat of Angre dynasty, some historic artefacts are kept in the first floor hall. In Chatribaug, one finds stone tombs of Angre rulers with artistic carvings on them.
