Overnight Trek to Harishchandragad on 7-8 Dec 2013

Cool Breeze in the air, weather is chill, winter season is ON and trekkers start off for the overnight trek in the mighty Sahyadri. So we are heading to the favourite fort of many individuals, also known as trekkers paradise... Harishchndragad.

We at Nisarga Bhraman invite you all to the overnight trek to Harishchandragad on 7th and 8th December 2013.


We will be climbing from an easy route from Pachnai village and descending via ancient route of Rajmarg. 
About the fort:

Harishchandragad Fort, situated in Junnar region near Malshej Ghat, known as trekkers paradise is famous for its height, its toughness and the famous 'Konkan Kada'. Harishchandreshwar Temple is known to be the pride of the fort. The Nandi and Shivling in the temple are breathtaking. The caves on the fort has idols of Lord Ganesha and Vishnu. Sant Changdev stayed here for some time. 
The fort is very popular to trekkers and nature lovers. Rohidas, Taramati and Harishchandra are the three peaks on Harishchandragad.

Itinerary-

Friday, 6th Dec

Gather at Mumbai CST Station at 11:50 pm
Get the last local train (slow) to Kasara.
Mumbai CST- 00:14
Dadar- 00:32
Kurla- 00:43
Thane- 1:09
Kalyan- 1:40
Kasara- 2:55

Saturday, 7th Dec -

Reach Kasara by 3:00am
Travel by private Jeep to base village, Pachnai
Freshen up and Breakfast
Trek to Harishchandragad
Explore Fort
Lunch and Rest
Enjoy Sunset at Kokankada

Sunday, 8th Dec -

Wake up early and freshen up
Post breakfast, explore Fort, Balekilla
Descend via Rajmarg
Reach Khireshwar by 2pm
Lunch
Travel towards Kalyan
Reach Kalyan by 6:00 pm approx.

Cost of the trek would be Rs. 1100/- and Rs. 50/- discount for members.


The cost includes -
  • Travel from Kasara to Pachnai and back to Kalyan
  • Food (2 Breakfast, 2 Lunch and 1 dinner) during the trip

Here is a list of the things to be carried by every individual -

  • A haversack to put in everything to be carried for the trek
  • At least 2 Liters of water
  • Extra set of clothes, Towel / Napkin, Cap / Hat
  • Bedding Material / Sleeping Bag
  • Camera, Something to munch on (Optional)
  • Torch with extra set of batteries
  • Plate, Mug, Spoon
  • Personal medicines required if any
  • Identity Proof

Few rules that we would like people to follow - 

  • Smoking and possession and/or consumption of Alcohol will strictly not be permitted on the event & would lead to expulsion from the trek.
  • Stay with the group.
  • The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No arguments will be entertained.
  • Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage.
  • Please do not wear any jewelry or gold chains/rings.
  • Please do not litter, we believe in the saying, “Wherever you go, leave only your footprints and take back only memories.”
